A powerful geomagnetic storm struck Earth on Sunday, raising geomagnetic levels to at least G3 and potentially causing aurora sightings. The coronal mass ejection (CME) originated from the Sun on Friday and passed over Earth, resulting in G1 through G4 levels over the weekend. Auroras may be visible as far south as parts of Alabama and northern California. The most significant solar flare event in years occurred in December 2023, causing some radio communication interference.
