Microsoft will invest nearly $2.9bn in Japan over the next two years to expand its AI and cloud infrastructure and digitally upskill around 3m people. This includes opening its first Microsoft Research Asia lab in Tokyo and deepening cybersecurity collaboration with the Japanese government. The investments aim to support Japan's digital transformation and economic growth. Prime Minister Fumio Kishida welcomed the announcement, looking forward to further collaboration. Microsoft is making significant investments in AI globally, including a new hub in London and expansions in Spain and the UK.
