Meta (Facebook) is implementing new features on Instagram to safeguard young people from unwanted nudity or sextortion scams. These include a feature called Nudity Protection in DMs, which automatically blurs images containing nudity, and nudity safety-screens that require users to verify their age before viewing blurred content. Meta also plans to make it harder for potential scammers to find and interact with teens by developing technology to identify suspect accounts and applying restrictions on their interactions. Additionally, Instagram users will be directed to safety tips about the risks of sharing intimate images and encouraged to report threats.
