Astronomers using the European Space Agency's CHEOPS Space Telescope may have found an explanation for the disturbing light asymmetry on exoplanet WASP-76b. The presence of a phenomenon similar to a rainbow known as a glory could be causing the difference in light between the two opposing sides of the planet. WASP-76b, an ultra-hot exoplanet with extreme conditions including molten iron rain, had previously puzzled researchers due to its tidal locking and one-sided heat distribution.
