A recent study by researchers from Stockholm University and KTH Royal Institute of Technology utilized functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) to compare brain functions during listening and speaking in real-life conversations. The findings revealed significant differences in brain activity, with some regions becoming more active during speaking and others while listening. Additionally, social processing regions were found to be more engaged during speech production. This complex process could be associated with the developmental stages individuals undergo during adolescence, potentially impacting neurodevelopmental conditions like Autism and ADHD.
